Using the slogan "We Protect Our Children", Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD), The Association for Supporting Contemporary Life (ÇYDD), Education and Science Workers Union (Eğitim-İş) and Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) organized a panel titled "Students' Right to Housing and the Dormitory Problem" and a forum titled "We Discuss the Dormitory Problem of Students Together".

The panel was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldız and featured Mustafa Hüsnü Bozkurt (ADD), Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yüksel (ÇYDD), Kadem Özbay (Eğitim-İş) and Atty. R. Erinç Sağkan (TBB) as speakers. At the end of the panel, the final declaration was read by ÇYDD Ankara Branch President Füruzan Bilir on behalf of the four institutions.

ÇYDD Vice Presidents Lale Pilatin and Atty. Sedat Durna, ÇYDD Ankara, Ümitköy – Çayyolu, and Çankaya Branch members and young people also participated in the panel.

Our President Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yüksel recounted her memory about a student who had to stay in the community dormitory due to the lack of student dormitories in Van and stated that many students had to endure staying at these dormitories due to socio-economic disadvantages. For this reason, Yüksel stated that it is very important to produce solutions to the housing problem and she said that they are working together with three institutions that are also in favor of secular and scientific education in order to draw attention to this problem and contribute to the solution and that they always stand by the students.

Stating that the support of local governments against the housing problem is also very important, the four institutions explained that with such support, new dormitories can be built and their management will be left to local governments to ensure that they can be audited by the state. As ÇYDD, we will continue to share with the public the work we will do on this issue together with the three other institutions.
