The bill, which was accepted by the Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Commission and foresees the opening of olive groves to mining activities, is a great threat to the common future of nature and society.
Olive groves are the carriers of our thousands of years of production culture, rural life and local economies. At the same time, they have a vital place among the natural assets of Anatolia. Destroying these areas for the sake of industrial interests means disregarding nature, life and people.
This regulation is a step that does not take into account the common interest of society, excludes the right of the people to have a say and will cause irreparable damage to the ecosystem. Such decisions concerning our living spaces must be made through a transparent and participatory process based on scientific knowledge.
This approach, which will destroy olive groves, disrupts the integrity of soil, water and living together. For this reason, we reiterate our call for the withdrawal of the proposal in question; We invite all decision makers to fulfill their responsibilities towards nature and citizens.
The olive tree is life. It is everyone's duty to defend life.
