Happy 108th Anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory

happy-108th-anniversary-of-the-canakkale-victory Happy 108th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory (Dardanelles-March 18, 1915), the prelude to the modern, secular, and democratic Republic of Türkiye.

108 years ago, under the command of our Great Leader Atatürk and with the determination of the Turkish soldiers, a great victory was won against the imperialist powers, which had the largest and most powerful armies of the period, and with this victory, the course of history changed. Mustafa Kemal's command to his soldiers: "I do not order you to attack, I order you to die!" is the summary of the whole war.  The world's largest ships of the British Royal Navy were sunk off the Dardanelles Strait and the Dardanelles Naval Battles were won.

The Çanakkale Victory which showed the whole world our nation's passion for independence and the impassability of Çanakkale was the prelude to the modern, secular, and democratic Republic of Türkiye. This victory, which was a source of great self-confidence and faith for our War of Independence, demonstrated that the Turkish nation would fulfill the requirements of the defense of the homeland with their blood and soul, first in Çanakkale and then throughout the duration of the War of Independence.

Atatürk, who knew very well that wars were not the work of nations, but of incompetent and ruthless politicians, once again presented to the world that peace and not wars for nations were permanent with his words addressed to Anzac soldiers who lost their lives in this war and their mothers: "They have become our sons after giving their lives in this land."

As ÇYDD, we organize the Traditional Martyrs' Monument Çanakkale Meeting every year in order to contribute to the learning of history on the actual sight and in a correct manner by our young people who will be the future of our country and to enable them to develop a strong sense of patriotism and responsible citizenship. However, after the earthquake disaster this year, we decided not to hold our meeting.  Next year, we will be in Çanakkale again in solidarity and with a sense of sharing with our youth!

We commemorate with respect and gratitude our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Hero of the Anafartalar battle, who gave us the Çanakkale Victory and enabled us to live in serenity towards a goal of sound judgment and international peace.  We commemorate our martyrs and veterans with respect and gratitude who resisted the occupation forces at the cost of their lives.
