ÇYDD Samandağ Contemporary Activity Center was opened

Samandağ Contemporary Activity Center of the Association for Supporting Contemporary Life was
opened.

The Samandağ Contemporary Activity Center (SÇEM) of the Association for Supporting
Contemporary Life (ÇYDD), has been established in order to contribute to the socio-cultural support
of women and children in the Samandağ district of Hatay after the earthquake and to facilitate their
adaptation to educational processes.

The Samandağ Contemporary Activity Center (SCEM) was opened on Saturday, June 17 at 14:00.
ÇYDD President Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yüksel, ÇYDD Vice President Lale Platin, Head Office Board Members
Bahattin Carav, Berfin Kuruş, Hatice Gülçür İnanç, ÇYDD Çukurova Branch President Sibel Özgümüş,
ÇYDD İskenderun Branch President Emine Kurbal, ÇYDD Antakya, Çukurova, İskenderun board
members, local administrators and supporters attended the opening.
At the opening, students read poems and sang songs. There was face painting for children by a
clown. The opening ceremony ended with distribution of gifts.

The center which was opened at Cumhuriyet Mahallesi, 3334 Sokak, No 25 (opposite Cumhuriyet
Mah. Muhtarlığı) in the Samandağ district of the Hatay province aims to alleviate the trauma
experienced by women and children by organizing workshops in different fields, to contribute to
their personal development and to help them look to the future with hope.
The workshops in the Activity Center are as follows:

The description of some of the workshops is as follows:

CODING AGES 11-15
Coding trainings is an educational series that uses codeing, scratch and app inventor and teaches
children the algorithm and the basics of coding with fun. The 1 st Course will last 1-4 weeks and the
2 nd Course will last 2-8 weeks and the whole program will last 8-12 weeks in total.

PAINTING WORKSHOP AGES 7-11
Painting has an effect of reducing stress and health complaints in children and providing physical
and psychological benefits. During the workshop, drawings on various themes will be done.

READING WORKSHOP AGES 7-11
With the ‘12 Books in 12 Weeks Project’, the aim is to build reading habits in children and enrich their
world of thought.

FREE PLAY TENT AGES 7-11
We have set up a tent to spend time with the children of the region and to develop their game
culture. We will be their playmates and we will have areas for them where they will spend enjoyable
moments.

In addition;       

AGES 7-18
In addition to the above listed workshops, film screenings, technology workshops, values
workshops, sports activities, music and theater studies, profession introductions, writing activities
and rhythm workshops will be held.
