We have known for 35 years that a bright future begins with secular and scientific education.

35 years ago, Türkan Saylan and his friends, who believed that achieving the social goals set by the
Great Atatürk would be possible with secular and scientific education based on the principle of
equality of opportunity, set out by establishing Çağdaş Yasamı Destekleme Derneği( the Association
for Supporting Contemporary Life.) The torch of enlightenment lit in Istanbul began to carry its light
to all corners of our country with our branches opened in a very short time.
In order to protect the achievements of our Republic and ensure equal opportunities in education,
we tried to reach every corner of our country, starting from the regions that experience inequality
most deeply. We held the hands of tens of thousands of young people who wanted to study but
encountered obstacles and could not continue their education, helped them overcome the obstacles
in front of them, and witnessed them becoming individuals with free minds and consciences of the
Republic with the power of education.
We defended the achievements of the Republic at all times and under all circumstances; We did not
withdraw our reaction to the attacks against these gains, especially secularism. With the awareness
of patriotism, we protected and defended our nature, forests and rivers.
In the schooling of girls, in the construction of schools, dormitories, kindergartens and playgrounds
with the support of our donors, in the Marmara Earthquake, in the Soma disaster, in the pandemic,
with our education support, in the Van earthquake, in Hatay, in Maraş, in every social event and issue
we need to be in, we were at our nation's support. We stood by our nation and walked together,
drawing strength from our members and volunteers.
We were proud to reach 104 thousand 915 female students with our project "I Have a Daughter in
Anatolia, She Will Be a Teacher".
We prepared 61 thousand 42 university students for a bright future with our “ You can light a candle
too” project.
We provided 7,424 computer and tablet support to our children, who could not access distance
education because they did not have a computer, especially during the pandemic period, to continue
their education.
We started to provide monthly housing scholarship support of 2,500 TL in addition to education
scholarships to a total of 560 young people who have serious housing problems due to increasing
rental prices, especially in metropolitan cities.
Today, on our 35th anniversary, we celebrate every step we have taken for these values. With the
assurance of the achievements of the Republic and the strength we receive from Ataturk's
revolutions; We continue our march with our commitment to justice, freedom and human rights. To
work in the footsteps of our teacher Türkan Saylan for a modern Turkey and a bright future; We will
continue to be the future assurance of modern Turkey.
